In 2018, I obtained my Master’s degree in Business Engineering at Hasselt University, with a major in Technology, Innovation and Environmental Management and a minor in Operational Management and Logistics. I spent one semester of my degree at Lappeenranta University of Technology in Finland (Erasmus+ exchange). For my Master’s thesis, I conducted a bibliometric literature review on the research domain of organic photovoltaics, with the goal of mapping the product and process innovation of this technology.
Currently I am working as a PhD researcher for the Environmental Economics Research Group, which is part of the Centre for Environmental Sciences (CMK) at Hasselt University. In the context of the FWO-SBO project ‘EcoCities: Green roofs and walls as a source for ecosystem services in future cities’, I will conduct an economic valuation of the ecosystem services provided by a number of different green systems. More specifically, I will investigate the value of this kind of urban green for people’s subjective well-being, its net value from a private and societal perspective, and the value of its biodiversity in relation to the effectiveness of different management options.
