Exhaustible resources in Flanders: identifying sustainable solutions

Since Sustainable Materials Management is a cornerstone of the future green economy, behavior in society should be shifted in a way that current material needs can be fulfilled without destabilizing the natural system nor mortgaging its future. Taking into account that reserves of exhaustible resources in Flanders (Belgium) are limited, work within the Policy Centre focuses on the development of a hotelling based dynamic optimization modelling tool in order to identify the most sustainable use of these resources. Being generically developed, the model can be applied to all sorts of exhaustible resources by applying the relevant input data.
